Nordegg Ranger Station Walk Professional Review and Guide
"This hike is ideal for families or for those who want to stretch their legs on a warm day without getting too hot. The trail through the cool forest is an appropriate introduction to the Nordegg Ranger Station and the important work of the Forest Rangers. On weekdays at the Station, you may purchase maps and ask questions about the area. From here, the trail leads to Shunda Creek and its beaver dams where you can enjoy a picnic lunch. From the Coliseum Trail Staging Area sign, head east along a broad trail that doubles as a bridle path. A quick jaunt brings you to a major intersection. The trail on your right leads to the group campground of the Nordegg Recreation Association; the trail to the left leads up Coliseum Mountain. Continue straight ahead to enter a cool, mixed forest of spruce and poplar. If you are hiking here in late spring or early summer, wild roses sprinkle the borders of the pathway."
