Although it takes only several hours to climb up to Allstones Lake, do plan to make this a day hike. The views along the way are spectacular and the lake itself offers a restful repose after a steep climb. For the energetic, there is a side trip to the top of the ridge above Allstones Lake for an unsurpassed view of the lake and surrounding valleys. As you climb you are rewarded with sneak previews of magnificent mountain scenery through the stands of pine.

A great little trail. Beautiful view of Abraham Lake in early Sept., when the colors begin to change, especially when you clear the treeline near the top. Once you begin descending into Allstones, make sure you stay left. And if your'e looking for serenity and silence...don't go on a long weekend - Allstones has gained great popularity and was much busier than we expected, including what appeared to be a school group of some sort. Overall, a beautiful hike, and highly recommended!

A beautiful trail to do in the winter--especially with the lack of snow this winter. We did not need snowshoes to get up and wished that we had brought our skates as the lake was completely frozen over and clear of snow. Although there is campsites on both ends of the lake, this hike is very easy to accomplish as a day hike.
