The route follows a fire road up the Little Elbow River and its south fork, crossing Tombstone Pass to Big Elbow trail in the Elbow River valley. Serious walkers will look on it as a useful access trail, the jumping-off point to far greater hikes into the alpine. Probably over half the users are mountain bikers cruisin' the celebrated Elbow Loop. Apart from bikes, watch for rangers on quads checking on Tombstone Lakes for illegal campers.
