Big Elbow Trail Professional Review and Guide
"The basis is an old road that follows the Elbow River from its confluence with the Little Elbow to Elbow Lake where route #110 takes over for the last stretch to Highway 40. Here and there the route is complicated by horse trail variations but not to worry, both trails are well marked with signposts and red markers. Though it sounds like a boring old plod up a valley, it's not. The scenery is spectacular as you pass through layers of front ranges to the foot of the Great Divide. There are loops to be made and off-trail explorations up side valleys and mountains to keep you happy for years. Just about all of it is popular with mountain bikers, particularly the section between the recreation area and Little Elbow trail which is part of the celebrated Elbow Loop. For side trips like Mt. Cornwall and Banded Peak I recommend taking a bike."
