If you had been around this area between 1885 and 1902 you would have discovered that cattle grazing the upper reaches of Ware Creek and Threepoint Creek all bore the brand "9999". This was the registered brand of John Ware, the celebrated Negro cowboy renowned for his strength and horsemanship who homesteaded just east of here at the fork of the two rivers. This trail has one moderate section where it climbs over the hills to Ware Creek where the countryside is at its most beautiful. Muddy equestrian but worth the effort.
