Distance 1.6 km from logging road, height gain 549 m, high point 2400 m. Shaped like a beached green whale, The Hill of the Flowers stands aloof from the backbone of the Elk Range, its solitary position making it an excellent viewpoint. In fact, it was while hunting sheep on its upper slopes, that Patterson and Adolf Baumgart discovered the Lake of the Horns glinting in the low October sun of 60 years ago.
