In 1915, the old trail up Fitzsimmons Creek provided the Boundary Commission surveyors with access to Baril Creek and Fording River Pass. Since then, it's not only been overlaid by a logging road but the whole area has been crosshatched by cutlines and logging roads the extent of which can only be appreciated from the air. The logging road is quite pleasant and provides hikers with access to the Strawberry and Coyote hills.
