Moraine Lake Shoreline Professional Review and Guide
"Moraine Lake is surely one of the supreme mountain beauty spots in the world. This short walk stays close to the shoreline, giving superb views. It ends with the creek that drains Wenkchemna Glacier, whose silty waters give the lake its rich colouring. “From” [the end of the trail] “the snowy crest of Mt. Fay, unseen at the other end of the lake, looms grandly through a rift in the mountains to the south. From the vertical precipices on either side, crowned with walls of ice, waterfalls descend in slender silvery streams.” Walter Wilcox, ‘Guide-book to the Lake Louise Region’. The grade is almost level, only climbing slightly from the lakeshore near the end. There are benches along the trail. Displays near the start of the trail give information about the geology and history of the area."
