This is one of my favourite walks in the mountains. On the way to Larch Valley, after the first switchback, the views are superb. Occasionally, if there is a bear in the area, hikers are required to form groups of 6 or more at the start of the trail and stay together for the duration of the hike. The grade is moderate except for a short, steep section near the start.
