This rather steep trip makes a scenic evening stroll, although by that time, the sun is off the lake. For the best light, go before late afternoon. At the viewpoint there is an interpretive display illustrating the history of Chateau Lake Louise. Although the viewpoint is not high, and trees have grown around the Lookout, you still get exceptional views of Lake Louise, the Chateau, and a ring of fine summits. False azalea, an attractive shrub with tiny bell-shaped red flowers, is common beside the trail.
