Windtower Professional Review and Guide
"Windtower. Tower of the Winds. Elegant ridges dividing dark overhanging walls explored by climbers overnighting in hammocks slung from pitons. From Wind Valley it certainly looks impregnable. The climber's descent route down the back, though, is the hiker's walk-up, barely qualifying as a scramble unless you count the easy rock bands low down. The worst problem is finding the right sheep trail at the start! Exposure is nil, the views terrific. Carry water all the way up from the highway. Start from just below West Wind Pass, about halfway between the trees and the now and then by travelling clouds of high drop-off. Though not presenting its formidable side, Windtower at this point is a jumble of small cliffs. The idea is to traverse right (south) just above treeline to where the west face smooths out into easy-angled scree."
