This hugely popular trail has a few tricky sections in the valley section, after which it's a straightforward plod up meadows to a grassy summit. Who would think this insignificant summit would be such a fine viewpoint! Follow Evan-Thomas Creek trail for 1.8 km to the first side creek crossing where a narrow trail turns off to the left at a cairn. Be sure it’s not the horse trail passed a few minutes earlier that has no cairn and is going in the wrong direction, anyway. The correct trail follows the left bank of the creek arising from the west slope of Mt. McDougall. Most people seem to call it McDougall Creek.
