Bikers in the Canadian Rockies suffer from a definite shortage of mountain passes that allow mountain bike access. Either such passes have been closed to fat-tire travel, or they're simply too rugged and difficult to be used. Ptolemy Pass, with its 6.71-mile point-to-point, provides easy access to a mountain pass on the Continental Divide. Loop options are available with Tent Mountain Pass to make a 14.88-mile loop. The views from the pass extend both east and west, spanning the Continental Divide. Be sure to have a good map and compass.
