Great Divide Trail: Cameron Lake to Sage Pass Professional Review and Guide
"A strenuous but rewarding hike on excellent trail. This high level hike, adjacent to the Continental Divide, offers an almost continuous panorama. This segment known as the Tamarack trail is my favorite hike in Waterton Lakes National Park owing to its proximity to remote alpine lakes and the Divide. This trail allows you to see a network of high-country routes arranged along shale-strewn ridges and summits. Travel in any direction seems possible.
The park-operated Townsite Campground has hundreds of sites for car campers and a tenting area if you are on foot. The campground includes washrooms, hot showers, camp kitchens and an interpretive program but no open fires. The campground is open from mid-May to mid-October. The Crandell Campground is on the Red Rock Parkway, about 7 km from Highway 5, the park entrance highway. This park-operated campground has over 100 sites with washrooms and camp kitchens but no showers."
