The Rundle Riverside trail runs from the Banff Springs Golf Course to the park boundary and its considerably more hard-core than most people expect with lots of roots and rocks and steep little ups and downs. Many folks get sucked in because the Banff Trail, which runs from the park boundary through the Canmore Nordic Centre, is smooth and easy.

Best as a 50 k loop around Mt. Rundle. Start from Canmore Nordic Centre to warm up on the easy part and get the gnarly, rooty riverside trail out of the way early. Head up the Spray River (either side), a cruisey roly-poly stretch. Then up Goat Creek ending with a killer downhill back into Canmore. If you planit it right you could hit the ditch at the end and catch enough air to land on top of your SUV smack into your bike rack!
