Johnston Canyon Professional Review and Guide
"Catwalks and view platforms permit a unique variety of vantage points for enjoying this remarkable canyon and its waterfalls. The Lower Falls can be reached in 1.2 km. A narrow cave permits a close-up view of these falls as well as a taste of its spray. The more dramatic Upper Falls are reached at km 2.7. You pass five other minor falls en route. Tufa—colourful rock deposits from dripping springs—can be seen, especially at the Upper Falls. Johnston Canyon is one of only three sites in Alberta where nesting sites of black swifts have been found. Dippers also frequent the fast-moving water and its spray."

Love love love this hike!!!
This 1.7 mile hike is one of the most popular in Banff National Park, yet beautiful enough to make the crowds worth it. (Date hiked: August 10, 2009.) Read the full write-up at: http://www.greeneadventures.com/2009/09/28/canadian-rockies-hiking-to-johnston-canyon-falls/
