I recently bought a 2006 BMW 330i and needed a rack for skis and my bike. Having used the Yakima system for many years, I already had the crossbars, towers and various equipment racks. I thought that all I needed was some Q clips and I would be ready to go. But nooooo such luck! Yakima did not make a compatible Q clip for my car model. The only option was the Whisperbar setup at $400+.Since Yakima had cunningly hooked me into buying various expensive racks over the years, I reluctantly bought the kit - all the while cursing Yakima for making me spend extra money.Well - Installation was a breeze (using the factory mount points. The bar adjustment is much simpler then the Q Tower system. And,I have to admit, it looks

These roof bar has good design on the bars themselves. However, the connectors between the bar and the feet are all plastic. I am afraid they are not strong as metal. Didn't install.

Quiet and streamlined
Used for transporting bikes.Locks down tightly to the built in receptacles.Very easy to use once installed; easy to put bikes on and off.Very little impact on gas mileage

Amazing roof rack, looks factory install
I did not purchase this from REI, since they do not do install. I do not know how to install these products and my car needed a custom permanent mount. They do make this available with a door mount which did not look too hard, but for me it was cheaper to have a permanent solution.You will get the same price anywhere you shop, about $389 without tax. More expensive then other solutions but worth it for quality.It looks like something that came out of the factory with my car and driving home with it was amazing. No noises! It also works with any attachment!Highly recommended. Would have bought from REI if they offered installation.
