Offering an extremely responsive experience and maximum control, the Werner Spanker stand up paddle dominates waters that might otherwise toss you from your board. Extremely lightweight carbon-fiber shaft offers a bit of flex to increase comfort on every stroke. Carbon fiber/foam core blade offers a distinct profile that enters and exits the water quietly while adding buoyancy for a light stroke. Teardrop blade shape with rounded corners reduces torque to smooth out each stroke, and slight spoon shape at the tip of the blade increases power. 12° angle offers aggressive control from a standing position. Durable T-shaped ABS palm grip fits naturally in your hand, offering you refined control for a variety of paddle strokes.

What a difference!

Bought this because I was sick of paddles that made heavy paddling even harder. This Spanker is a like a feather. I LOVE it. I can paddle longer in more difficult winds/currents without thinking I'm going to be stuck out there. The paddle itself makes each stroke very effective. We do primarily "flatwater" paddling rather than surf, though it's rarely truly flat out in the bay. I am 5'8" and got the 78". I probably could have gone a tad shorter but went for the 78 to accommodate my husband, too. It's just a beautiful and functional paddle. I suggest getting a cover for it as well.
