"Hi! This is Mike on behalf of expertvillage.com. For more information about how to pack a bike, please visit Prairie Path Cycles in Winfield, Illinois or check us out on line at www.prairiepathcycles.com. In this clip, I am going to be showing you how to put the bike inside the actual bike box. Once you have all your materials on, your front wheel, your pedal, your seat post and your seat off, I got your gears in the right position and then you got your front wheel and your handle bars zipped tighter on the frame, you are ready to put it in. What you are going to do is start by putting the back wheel in first, like so. Sometimes this is easier with two people so if you can get someone to kind of help you with this it will make it a little easier. Depending upon the size of the bike frame you have, you may need to turn your fork and stem around backwards and when you do that, it gives you a little bit extra clearance in the front; so we'll do that, just should slide right in and there you go making sure everything is actually inside the box so you have enough room to close the box down and make sure you have some room for all your other stuff like your pedals and your skewer and the other stuff you may have taken off in the process."

The first and most fundamental thing is never hike alone. There are too many situations, especially as an unexperienced hiker, where you may find yourself without anyone to help you. So the buddy system works and applies very much in hiking.
