"Hi! I'm Paul from Eastern Mountain Sports on behalf of expertvillage.com. In this clip, I want to show how to properly maintain and stow a climbing latter. Climbing ladders are generally used while climbing big walls; therefore it is very important to maintain this piece of gear. There is a lot of stitching throughout this entire latter. You want to make sure every piece of stitching is secure at all of its points. At the same time, you are going to want to check every loop, every foot hole on the way down to make sure it is not ripped, torn or frayed. Finally while stowing this piece of gear, make sure it is away from any sharp objects in your bag and if you store outside of your bag make sure that it is in a cool dry place."
