Transcript for: Dyno vs. Static Indoor Rock Climbing Techniques

"Hey guys! This is Danny Logan and on behalf of Expert Village, I'm here to talk about indoor rock climbing. Okay, in this scene, I'm going to be talking about two important, essential elements of bouldering. In bouldering, we do a lot of short, fast moves. Sometimes we even jump. That jump is called a dyno. A dyno is when you are in one spot and you use all of your weight to kind of push yourself up and jump to a hold that is kind of far away and snag onto it. That's called a dyno. I'll be showing you one of those. And then there's another technique called doing it static. Static, instead of jumping, you are going to slowly bring yourself up to a move and even though it's really difficult to do it slow, you are going to try to do it nice and slow and smooth (like suave, you could say) to get up to the next hold. Those are two types of climbing definitions for this, so I'm going to show you static first and then I'll show you doing the same hold again, but dyno'ing it. You'll be able to tell the difference."
