Fort Wilderness Resort Campground Review

Fort Wilderness Resort Campground Review
Fort Wilderness Resort Campground is actually part of Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida. This facility offers 799 tent and RV campsites; it also has 407 cabins. Free amenities are picnic tables, potable water, electrical hook-ups, grills, cable television; internet access costs extra. Washers and dryers, showers, pay phones, toilets and ice machines exist at the comfort stations. This is the only resort at Disney world which allows pets. Stores and restaurants are available; outdoor activities include swimming, fishing, hiking and biking.

Wows and Woes

You won't run out of things to do at this resort; it is close to the Magic Kingdom and offers activities for all ages. Walt Disney World maintenance personnel keep the campground and facilities very clean.

If you like crowds, go in the summer; the place has so many people you'll feel like one of the sardines in a can. Food is expensive at the restaurant, stores and snack shops.

Insider Tips

Take all the food items you'll need for your stay at this resort. Keep your pets on a leash at all times; the park does not allow them in vehicles or tents that aren't air conditioned. Take the ferry service to the Magic Kingdom instead of driving; you'll save time and headaches.

Bottom Line

Fort Wilderness Resort Campground is definitely the way to go if you want to save money on lodging.

Author's Most Memorable Moment

I took my family to Walt Disney World to celebrate my return from teaching English in South Korea. Everyone looked forward to the trip. The campground has many fine facilities and activities. However, I wish we'd stayed in a cabin instead of our tent. I was not pleased to wake up on a Sunday morning to the sound of the neighbors having a loud argument that went on for two hours.
