Fort Wilderness Campground Reviews

Fort Wilderness Campground Reviews
Disney's Fort Wilderness Campsite outside of the Magic Kingdom in Orlando, Florida, is a natural, tree-filled, animal-roaming campground that was made by Disney. The campgrounds have facilities from pop-up tents to full sewer hook-ups for recreational vehicles. The Walt Disney World Theme Park is only a short distance away so it's a nice option from staying in a motel.

Wows and Woes

In typical Disney fashion, everything is extravagant, even for a campground. Deer run wild and you can bring your own pets to play in the camp. The campsite looks like a scene from a movie in which you expect Mickey and Minnie to show up in at any moment.
Starting at $46 as of September 2009, that's quite pricey for camping when a motel is about the same price in Orlando, Florida. There are only a limited amount of food venues so if you forgot your BBQ, you'll have to fork out $15 to $40 a person for hot dogs.

Insider Tips

A large family is ideal for this campsite where you can bring a camper filled with food and grill outside, saving your money for the theme park.

Bottom Line

The campsite charges by vehicle or tent, not by the person, so it's a good deal for larger groups.

Author's Most Memorable Moment

I don't like camping, I don't care how ideal it is for acquainting myself with nature. My cousin's two kids talked me into this. We pull up to the campsite with a tent and set things up only to realize we have no water or food. We trek to the only restaurant at camp and pay close to $100 for four people for dinner. Give me a local crab shack any day over camping.
