Grand Canyon Lodge Reviews

Grand Canyon Lodge Reviews
One of the top-rated lodges in the Grand Canyon area is the El Tovar Hotel that has been open since 1905, then was renovated in 2005 to include simple modern amenities. It is a registered national historic landmark with a rustic elegance. The location is prime, right on the rim of the canyon. The 78 suites and rooms offer basic amenities, and the suites offer a sitting room as well as a patio. El Tovar features room service, a fine dining room, a lounge, free parking, newsstand and curio shop.

Wows and Woes

On Trip Advisor, El Tovar is the No. 1-rated lodge in the Grand Canyon area. The location is ideal, with amazing views from all the rooms. But the prices are very steep, especially reflected in the lounge drinks and gift shop. It is recommended to make reservations months in advance, especially during the busy winter season.

Insider Tips

Handicapped guests might have problems as there are no elevators with minimal handicapped ramps. For special prices and promotions, make sure to check out the El Tovar website. All rooms are nonsmoking.

Bottom Line

El Tovar is friendly, a great location and charming with amazing views. The prices are expensive and you need to book far in advance to ensure you have a room.

Author's Most Memorable Moment

After a day of hiking in the canyon, it was nice to be able to go straight back to the room without a long ride or wait. Room service brought hot tea and cold packs for sore muscles, and the staff was very friendly and accommodating.
