The Landmark Resort in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, has 160 rooms and is 15 stories high. The resort's amenities include indoor and outdoor heated swimming pools, a water park, hot tubs, sauna, workout equipment and miniature golf. Supervised activities for children are available. Wows and Woes

Wows
The staff is friendly, accommodating and very professional. The many pools for children and adults are clean and well-maintained.
Woes
The workout equipment room is small and has just three treadmills and a stationary bicycle. Some rooms that are supposed to be nonsmoking smell like cigarette smoke.

Insider Tips

Try the breakfast buffet at the Gazebo Restaurant; it's well done and reasonably priced. Bring your own snacks between October and May; the snack bar, pizza parlor and ice cream shop are closed then.
Myrtle Beach State Park is nearby and offers interpretative trails and great fishing in the surf or on the pier. You'll need a South Carolina saltwater fishing license to fish at Myrtle Beach State Park. View your room before checking in.

Bottom Line

The Landmark Resort costs much less than many other hotels in the area. With activities and amenities for the whole family, it is a good choice.

Author's Most Memorable Moment

I went to Myrtle Beach without reservations at the end of the high season. I looked at several different hotels and finally decided on the Landmark. I was with my family, and we were quite impressed with the accommodations, even though they could have used some renovation. I was delighted when I asked for extra towels and they were brought to my room right away.
