Review of Snowshoe Mountain Resort

Review of Snowshoe Mountain Resort
Snowshoe Mountain Resort in West Virginia is an adventurers' paradise, in the winter and the summer, too. During the winter, the resort has more than a dozen trails for ski buffs and snowboarding enthusiasts. In the summer, the resort stays open for hiking and trout fishing as well as numerous other outdoor sports. The village itself is loaded with nightly entertainment and a variety of restaurants and bars.

Wows and Woes

The resort has a lot of activities that are well designed for children, making it a terrific place for a family vacation.

Many of the lodgings are on the pricey side; throw in ski tickets and equipment rental, and it's a costly trip.

Insider Tips

Snowshoe Mountain has a strong curriculum to teach kids how to ski and enjoy the snow. It even offers a snowboarding class with child care for kids who don't want to learn or might be too young to start. The lessons are divided by age group so younger kids don't have to be intimidated by the skills of older kids. Parents can go off on their own and not worry about the children being bored.

Bottom Line

Snowshoe Mountain Resort is worth the money, a good time for adults and kids without costing a fortune.

Author's Most Memorable Moment

I've gone skiing several times, and each time someone next to me broke his leg. So when my friends got me up to Snowshoe Mountain, they immediately dumped me on a ski lift before I could chicken out. Of course, I had no idea how to get down. After numerous falls, I just sat there until the ski patrol picked me up. They were quite amused by my inabilities.
