A Review of Europe's River Cruises

A Review of Europe's River Cruises
When it comes to great European river cruises, the two-must see rivers are the Seine in France and the Danube through Austria. The Seine will inspire you the way it inspired famous painters while taking you through the heart of Paris. The Danube will make you want to dance a waltz and take you through the Vienna Opera House.

Wows and Woes

River cruises are most stunning by night when traveling through Paris or Vienna. Both cities get lit up, showcasing their unique ancient architecture.
As the boat moves, you can't help but wish you could spend long periods on land exploring monuments you can only see briefly by boat.

Insider Tips

Uniworld runs one of the most culturally intense and intimate cruises, incorporating local wine and cuisine to go with the visual tour.

Bottom Line

River cruises are some of the most romantic ways to see parts of France and Austria while experiencing the culture of these countries.

Author's Most Memorable Moment

Paris is my favorite city, and the Boule Miche River Boat runs nightly on the Seine. I never took advantage while living in Paris until a friend came for a visit and insisted we get on the boat. We started near Notre Dame with a glass of Bordeaux and ended at the Eiffel Tower with a Pouilly Fuse. The perfect Paris night.
