Yellowstone National Park Lodging Review

Yellowstone National Park Lodging Review
Standing atop a cliff in Yellowstone National Park and looking at an incredible valley view is one of many outdoor adventures awaiting outdoor enthusiasts. Yellowstone's lodging facilities include cabins and lodges with opening and closing dates varying according to the season. Cabins range from simple and rustic without bathrooms to spacious with hot tubs on the porch. Some are accessible for the disabled. Lodge rooms and suites have double or queen beds; each lodge has a dining room.

Wows and Woes

Park lodging personnel are friendly, accommodating and able to assist with any special needs. Beds in cabins and hotels are just right. No rooms, suites or cabins have televisions, cable, Internet service, radios or any type of cooking facilities. Rooms and cabins are all nonsmoking. Lodging is extremely crowded during the summer.

Book your reservations as early as possible to get your preferred lodging, especially in the summer. Take layered clothing to be prepared for all weather possibilities. Some cabins are cold at night in spite of wood-burning stoves, so take warm sleepwear. Expect insects of all sorts.

I've stayed in Yellowstone many times. My most memorable moment was when I woke up very early one morning and went outside my cabin. Greeting me was a doe and her twins. Instead of running away quickly, they stayed for several minutes. Looking into their liquid brown eyes was indeed special. Other great moments were catching rainbow trout, my favorite fish.
