Grand Canyon Lodge Review

Grand Canyon Lodge Review
Less developed than the touristy south rim, the north rim of the Grand Canyon retains the rugged beauty of the natural landscape. There are far less options for lodging at the north rim, but there are a few places to spend the night, including the Grand Canyon Lodge. Accommodations at the Grand Canyon Lodge include rooms in the main building or cabin rentals. If you opt for a cabin, you can upgrade to rim side and have the north rim of the Grand Canyon right at your door.

Wows and Woes

Cabins at the Grand Canyon Lodge are clean, well-kept and properly sealed, as is evident by the fact that only a few small insects made their way inside.

Despite the altitude, though, the lack of an air conditioner during the summer can make it rather difficult to get a comfortable night's sleep.

Insider Tips

The lodge has an on-site restaurant that makes it easy to catch meals between hikes, but the menu is limited and lacking in healthy options. Treating a stay at the lodge more like a camping trip and bringing your own supply of food can make for a more enjoyable stay.

Bottom Line

This no-frills lodge doesn't offer much luxury, but the location and views simply can't be beat.

Author's Most Memorable Moment

After a grumbling trek to our cabin, following a rough trip to the lodge, my traveling companions and I chucked our stuff in the cabin and headed out for dinner. Stepping out of our cabin just as the sun began to set over the canyon, we spent the next half hour watching in awe, completely forgetting our growling stomachs.
