Art Loeb Trail Reviews & Reports

We left from the Davidson River Campground to do the 7.2 mile hike described. We got about half way up traveling on the Art Loeb trail and the trail seemed to disappear and we saw no sign of the North Slope Connector shown on the Map. Since we didn't want to go wandering all over the place we just turned around and came back the same way.. The Map and description don't mention anything about difficulty seeing that part of the loop so thought it would be easy to spot.

Good strenuous trail. The views from the top of Tennent Mountain are excellent. The fall follage was just starting and gave the view extra significance. Watch out after a rain though, much of trail turns into a creek, so bring extra Socks. Good for a day hike to make it to Shining Rock. Keep up the pace though, if you get bogged down in the narrow paths, you might not make it back before sunset. There are many great camping sites near the trail, but sucluded. Prepare yourself for a great hike with great views.
