We combined this section with the Carvers Gap to Cloudland Hotel site section. We hiked this portion downhill and while it is a nice woodland hike, our calves and knees were begging for mercy about half way down! The continuous steep descent (2100 feet in 2.6 miles) is brutal. (Plan to spend time stretching calves & IT bands when you're done!) This is not for the novice hiker but the experienced will find it a nice challenge.
