f52cfa1f-a18f-40dc-b7ee-296d9d732b87 + Props Patrick Rating: Date of Trip: 6/24/2006 If you happen to be heading up to Indiana Dunes it might be worth it to bring a bike, but only if you were going to anyway. This trail is not worth the drive to it. Is well maintained and every quarter mile there is a marker, so it can be fun to measure your splits. The scenery doesn't change, and the trail is just a straight shot except for the occasional curve to get around the giant power line towers that you're riding along the entire time. The other points of interest include the cables from a railroad that the trail follows alongside, vultures sinning themselves on the towers, and the occasional pile of dog poo. The beach is nice, in spite of the huge power plants that are visable to the northeast and southwest. Basically, the trail is a bit of a workout, enough to get you nice and sweaty to enjoy a swim in the lake. If you don't expect much you can enjoy the ride, but you migfht as well bring a road bike. The camping facilities are very nice though. They are clean, and have showers available. Though when we went we barely got a campsite. They fill up quickly on the weekends.
