Without a doubt, more recreational bikers have gotten their first taste of off road bicycling on this trail than can be imagined. On the weekends the trail is very crowded with riders of all levels, but during the week this trail becomes a speed junky''s playground. 17 miles, nearly all downhill, and it is all yours. Nothing technically challenging, but I gar-un-tee it will leave you smiling. In town the guys at Adventure Damancus can get you to your starting location. If that''s not enough these guys can hook you up for a moon-light ride nearly every month of the year. If you want a good workout skip the shuttle ride and take your trusty two wheeler to the top. On the Abington end of the trail traffic is nearly non-exsistant, but there is this hugh honk''n bull who thinks it is his lot in life is to lay in the middle of the trail and lay brown bull bombs all over the place. Apart form that he is harmless. Go ride this rail trail and have a ball. That''s what it is there for!!

Three generations of us (ages 12-72) took the shuttle to Whitetop and rode back to Damascus. We took the 10:00 am shuttle with Adventure Damascus and arrived back around 3:00 pm. We stopped frequently to enjoy the scenery plus had a great, leisurely lunch at Creeper Trail Cafe. We expected to bike all the way to Abingdon but if we had we would have missed so much of the scenery. We will definitely be back for the other half but in the summer next time so we can play in the creeks! Take in a play at The Barter if you can.
