Yellowwood State Forest: Scarce O’ Fat Trail

Loop • 4.5 mi • 0 ft

This trail is tough. But for hikers who don’t mind a couple of good climbs, it’s worth it. The trail passes through a deep oak and hickory forest, meets up with a ridgetop horse trail, and descends into a lush, moist hollow before rising back up to a stunning, ridgetop view that overlooks Yellowwood Lake.

This is a great trail for a compressed hike. It is more like 5.5 miles long, but the hill at the beginning and at the end are both quite challenging. This can be done in about 1.5 miles.
