Three Sisters - Bend Oregon Climbs

The Sisters are three prominent volcanoes situated just west of Bend, each rising to just over 10,000 feet. The peaks are moderately glaciated, although these glaciers are mild and relatively uncrevassed compared to the glaciers on Mount Shasta and Mount Hood. Each of the three mountains can be climbed via relatively simple north-south ridges, except the summit pinnacle of North Sister, which has some loose rock climbing. It is common for climbers to traverse the entire group in a single long day (a "Three Sisters Marathon"). For those not up to a one-day marathon, it is more feasible to complete the traverse with a bivouac. The Three Sisters have been named "Faith," "Hope" and "Charity" by some kind, naive soul; more aptly, they are Big Sister (South), Little Sister (Middle) and Ugly Sister (North). All are included in the expansive Three Sisters Wilderness.
