Bluff Trail

OutAndBack • 3.4 mi • 10 ft

The Bluff Trail is an easy hike along one of the premier locations on the central California coastline. The trail snakes along the contours of a rugged network of eroding sandstone bluffs on a grassy marine terrace. Land extensions jut out into the ocean like fingers. There are hidden coves, sea caves, arches, sandy beaches, reefs, offshore outcroppings, clear tidepools, crashing surf, and basking seals and otters.

A lovely hike along the magnificent bluffs at Montana de Oro State Park, perfect for birdwatching, exploring tide pools, and seeing various marine mammals. When whales are migrating it is an especially excellent place to spot them.
