Old Forge on the western end of this trail has several miles of nice paved trail extending to Thendara and the station for the Adirondack Scenic Railway. Old Forge is missing an opportunity to promote this trail to add to their tourist destination status. The bridge over the Moose River is great to see on and off the trail. The trail is generally well-marked in Old Forge. The off-road trail between Eagle Bay and Old Forge is mostly sand based, so a true mountain bike would be smart. For those with a road bike like me, South Shore Rd. on the south side of Fourth Lake was a great ride. Much less traffic than Hwy28.
