Extract Brook Trail - Wells New York Snowshoe Trails

The East Branch of the Sacandaga River is the primary stream draining the eastern edge of the wilderness, and for several miles, where it runs parallel to NY 8, the river literally forms the wilderness boundary. The drive through its valley is among the most scenic in the Adirondacks, especially in winter when the view is not obstructed by leaves. Several rugged mountains stand guard over the opposite bank, many with open ledges that in theory would be excellent snowshoe-bushwhack destinations.
