T Street - San Clemente California Surf Spots

San Clemente’s T Street has three breaks. It’s typically a small wave that produces mellow lefts and rights on either side of the pier. The easiest way to know you’ve reached San Clemente’s T Street is by looking at the street signs. If you’re on Trafalgar Street and you’re looking at the ocean, chances are this is T Street. The break is located close to downtown, so there’s plenty of parking; the meters are usually your best bet. T Street is broken up into three breaks that always seem to have a wave even under the poorest of conditions. Each break ties in with changes San Clemente has undergone over the years—they’re all named after some restaurant, shack, or structure that was torn down. The first break here is Cropley’s, which busts fast peaky rights, but often only in winter. Beach House is a sandbar break on the south side of T Street. It typically will hold slightly larger swells better and produces both lefts and rights. T Street can get crowded on weekends and can see knee-high to head-high waves. It’s also a very popular spot for bodyboarders, so be prepared to share the space. On bigger swells the outer reef point produces the best peaks. Best Boards: Shortboard, longboard. This chapter also includes a brief description of San Clemente State Park.
