Pelican Butte

OutAndBack • 29 mi • 0 ft

A fantastic drive to an 8,036-foot summit that has views of the Sky Lakes and Mountain Lakes Wildernesses, Mt. McLoughlin, Upper Klamath Lake, and the Klamath Basin. Narrow, switchbacked, occasionally muddy, and rutted dirt road. Waterbars.

As of 07/19/16, the trail has been cleared. I'm glad too because I really wanted to do this run before heading back home to Cali. The views are absolutely amazing at the peak!! The photos sure don't do it justice. Also, the snow is off the road now for the summer.

As of 6/5/16 FR-980 is not traversable due to large trees being down on the road. I found this out the hard way and had to turn back. Hopefully they will clear it out soon!
