Kaleetan Peak - North Bend Washington Climbs

In former days, Kaleetan Peak was known as “The Matterhorn.” But now it is named for the Indian word for “arrow,” a more fitting description for the eye-catching triangular peak that juts up from the Denny Creek valley. Kaleetan is a moderately challenging pinnacle with a rugged and imposing face. Still, several scramble routes lead to the top. For those that reach the objective the prize is the choice landscape of the nearby Snoqualmie summits: Roosevelt, Chair, Bryant, Denny, and The Tooth. But the recompense is from the passage as much as from the final destination. Whilst on the journey, pass Keekwulee and Snowshoe Falls that splash and flume with delightful energy. At Melakwa Lake, luxuriate in views of rocks, snowfields, and cliffs falling precipitously from the summits of Kaleetan and Chair. The basin is pounded with use, but here you can still enjoy the respite and anticipate the exalted exploration above.
