Koch Mountain Trails

OutAndBack • 3.6 mi • 0 ft

A day hike or easy overnight backpack trip through a parklike alpine forest to the west shore of Waldo Lake in the Waldo Lake Wilderness. This hike is unusual for the west approaches to Waldo Lake in that it has a high-elevation trailhead. In fact, you will lose more than 400 feet hiking to the lake. The trail starts in a clearcut, then enters the wilderness area and starts to descend. Permit: Permit required for day and overnight hikes; self issue at trailhead.
