Marlette Lake - Glenbrook Nevada Hikes

The trip to Marlette Lake along the North Canyon Road is very popular, especially with mountain bikers. Once the North Canyon Trail is completed, hikers and equestrians will be able to make most of the journey on single-track trail closed to bikes, leaving North Canyon Road to the exclusive use of mountain bikers. The 4.5-mile journey starts at one artificial lake, Spooner, and ends at another, Marlette. In between you stroll through mixed forest up North Canyon before a short descent leads to the scenic lakeshore. Hikers, bikers, and equestrians with extra time and energy have additional opportunities to reach fine Lake Tahoe views, colorful wildflower displays and extensive stands of aspens. The route to Marlette Lake is generally open for snow-free travel by June. Fall is an especially fine time for a visit, when the extensive aspen groves in North Canyon and along Marlette’s west shore are ablaze in autumnal splendor.
