Alhambra Creek to Briones Peak

Loop • 7.8 mi • 1300 ft

From atop lofty Briones Peak, the rolling East Bay hillsides appear isolated, peaceful, and seemingly endless. This hike follows serene Alhambra Creek awhile, passes two round ponds, and then heads up to Briones Peak to one of the Bay Area’s best panoramas. Scattered oak specimens punctuate the grassland slopes, which are wintergreen during the rainy months and golden amber come autumn. You may encounter horses and dogs along the way.
