Bolinas Ridge Trail - San Rafael California Hikes

Continuous, stunning vistas of Tomales Bay beyond statuesque coast live oak and grotesquely shaped boulder outcrops are yours for the price of climbing 700 feet in 2.5 miles. After that, roaming grassy Bolinas Ridge is mostly a cakewalk, where the views of Inverness Ridge, Olema Valley, Bolinas Lagoon, and Tomales Bay take your breath away. The landscape is a spectacular mosaic of the gray ocean and bay contrasting with the foothills and valley to the west and with Kent Lake and dense wooded slopes to the east. With scarcely a turn in the wide trail, it’s easy to get lost in a daydream full of wondrous views as you traipse along the remote reaches of Bolinas Ridge. The trail is open to mountain bikes and horses, and hikers also often bring their leashed dogs.
