La Vega

OutAndBack • 6.5 mi • 1500 ft

Because this trail begins at the Santa Fe Ski Basin, it has less use than those closer to Santa Fe. Its destination is a beautiful valley complete with a stream running through it and a close view of Santa Fe Baldy. The maps of the area do not give the complete details of this hike; however, the trail is indicated by a trail marker and is easy to find.

This is a fantastic meadow. It is very large, has tons of wild flowers, and almost no traffic. We spent two nights camped here over a holiday weekend and only saw 3 people. For a full trip report with pictures and video see http://coloradokeith.com/backpacking-the-pecos-wilderness-la-vega
