Deer Creek

OutAndBack • 4.6 mi • 880 ft

With great early season snow and lots of fun trails to choose from, this area has become a mecca for ‘shoers and skiers. The Montezuma area has become a winter mecca for ‘shoers and skiers because of ample early season snow and lots of trails to choose from. As an alternative to the sometimes overcrowded trailheads within Montezuma itself, try this tour just a mile south of town. The road to the parking area is maintained by Summit County and should be reachable by regular cars. For those properly equipped with beacons and shovels (and a dose of caution), you may follow the trail past treeline into the beautiful basin beyond, all the way to so-called Deer Creek Pass.
