At the Seven Tubs Nature Area, glacial meltwater created a series of potholes in an area now called Whirlpool Valley. Maintained by Luzerne County in State Game Lands 292, this lovely hike is notable for these glacial “tubs,” or pools, which waterfalls continue to carve and deepen through bedrock. Interesting features: Scenic stream and “tubs” through a hemlock gorge, mountain views from the top of a ridge. Surface: First .2 mile, paved asphalt trail and wooden bridge; then rocky trail.
