Shuman Point Natural Area - Paupack Pennsylvania Hikes

Lake Wallenpaupack, 13 miles long, is the largest impoundment of water in the Poconos. Built by the Pennsylvania Power and Light Company in 1926 for the generation of hydroelectric power, the dam now serves only as an auxiliary power source. The main economic importance of the “Big Lake” today is its scenic and recreational value. The 250-acre Shuman Point is one of the few remaining wild areas adjoining Lake Wallenpaupack. Interesting features: Lake Wallenpaupack. Surface: Rocky trail, old roads.
