Blooming Grove 4-H Trail

Remember your hiking boots and insect repellent for this interesting hike in the Delaware State Forest. The trail is quite rocky through swamp and woodland and includes several small stream crossings. Also, take a pail if you like berries. Blueberries prefer the acidic soil at the edge of the swamp and ripen in July and August. Wild strawberries are ready in June, and red raspberries in July; both prefer the sunny power-line cut. Built by the local 4-H Club in 1975, the trail has been blazed recently and is well maintained by volunteers. Begin walking from the parking lot through a grassy power-line cut to a large sign indicating the trail system of three loops. Interesting features: Wooded swamp, tannic stream.
